Marketing Common Sense: It’s not that common.

What works in marketing? Getting the marketing basics right.

Lots of well meaning small and medium sized business marketers do great shiny work, with poor basic messages, and poor results.

Marketing a medical practice: Go for #2!

by Mike Coombs on March 2,2017

Marketing an Ophthalmology, or any medical practice is a competitive business.

Often, local geographic areas have a dominant “big dog” ophthalmology practice. The “big dog” dominates the advertising and marketing efforts. They are number one!

They are #1 because they are usually affiliated with a large (expensive) national marketing group, or a large hospital, that supplies smart, one size fit’s all, online marketing, or a level of web gravity, links and content, that puts them at number one in Google search engine.

When someone needs an Ophthalmologist, or Optometrist, or Optician, or Optical Shop, where do they look today? Online first and foremost.

Video for business results.

Have you ever “made a marketing or sales video” that did not really work? It happens.

Sure, at first it seemed great. Everyone congratulated each other. Whoooo! A video!

But over time sales just didn't use it... or nobody (but you) watched it online. It just didn't DO anything.

It happens too often, at all budget levels. Everyone agrees that video can be informative and persuasive. The public is “expert at watching” and is predisposed to click and watch video. You have sight, sound, motion, and emotion to work with.

So when you make a video that, for whatever reason, does not work... then its bad. You wasted time, money, and opportunity.

Because I am a long time marketing pro AND video-maker, this is one of my long time pet peeves:

"Making a video..." is not the same as accomplishing business results with video.

When the camera matters.

Now we have a new high end video camera. It’s a Panasonic DVX-200 with a Four Thirds sensor and 12 stops of dynamic range. It shoots at 4K and Ultra High Definition resolutions. (See me chest beating and grunting….oh oh oh…..)
